How it works and why it matters

Find and Replace swaps every occurrence of a word or phrase in a block of text. Without regex mode, the text you type is matched literally. With regex mode turned on, you can use patterns such as 'any number' or 'email addresses', which is useful for power users who clean up data.

Questions

Does the tool change the original text?

No. It creates a new result in the lower box, so your original stays as it was.

What is regex mode?

Regular expressions (regex) are patterns that match groups of text, such as all numbers or all email addresses. Most people do not need this mode; leave it off for normal replacements.

Is replacement case-sensitive?

By default, no. Tick 'Match case' if 'Apple' and 'apple' should be treated as different words.
