How it works and why it matters

This password generator creates random passwords using your browser's built-in secure random number generator. Longer passwords with mixed characters are much harder to guess. The strength meter estimates how many bits of randomness your password contains. Nothing you generate is stored or transmitted. Everything runs offline in your browser, so the password never leaves your device.

Are these passwords really random?

They use crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, which is the right tool for passwords.

How long should a password be?

At least 12 characters is a minimum. 16 or more with mixed character types is a strong default, especially for important accounts.

Does this site save my password?

No. The password is created in your browser and is never sent to our server. Close the tab and it is gone.
